Age of Conversation 2 - Available Wednesday October 29

I posted a while back on the next generation of the book Age of Conversation - a book built by over 100 citizen journalists, part-time pundits, bloggers and people like you and me.  I'm happy to announce that the next "conversation" -  the Age of Conversation 2 - will be available tomorrow at 8:00 am for purchase. 

While the first conversation had 100 authors, AOC2 has 237 - each offering their point of view on specific topics associated with the bottom-up approach to markets and marketing.  The specific topics addressed in the book are:

I am excited about the new book for a variety of reasons...

First... it is the next step in the conversation about markets as conversations.  When the Cluetrain Manifesto was published in 2000 the idea that the command and control business world was disappearing was introduced.  To pull from the intro paragraph on the the Cluetrain website:

"A powerful global conversation has begun. Through the Internet, people are discovering and inventing new ways to share relevant knowledge with blinding speed. As a direct result, markets are getting smarter—and getting smarter faster than most companies."

This book is brings 237 new voices to that conversation.  Sometimes more is just more.  In this case I think more is better.

Second... the proceeds go to charity - Variety International - an 80-year old charity that provides support for children in 52 countries. 

Third... I strongly believe that influencing behavior, whether for advancing your own personal objectives, or your companies, requires that honest and ongoing conversations take place.

Fourth... I am a contributing author in AOC2!  I took a shot at "Moving from Conversation to Action" highlighting some of the ways people can use the concepts of influence to get people to begin, and continue, conversations that drive business performance.

All of the authors will be making a concerted effort to publicize and drive sales for the book - after all - you get a great book and Variety gets some needed support.  A "win-win" if I ever saw one.
