With the number of shopping days till Christmas slowly (quickly?) dwindling it is heartwarming to see how participants in some incentive programs are using their earnings to bring a little cheer to those less fortunate.
This article from the Daily Review Atlas in Monmouth, IL highlights the giving nature of the employees of Maple City Remanufacturing who decided to use their incentive points to provide toys for charity.
Santa Is In The House
The company rewards employees with a point system based on safety, production, quality and housekeeping, and matches the employees' points up to a maximum of $400 per year. Employees can use these points to order your typical award catalog merchandise. But one employee decided to use his points in the spirit of the season.
Kevin Brentise decided to use his incentive program to help Jamieson Center's Toys for Angels. His one selfish act turned into a company-wide effort with $3,500 worth of toys being donated to charity.
It would be wise for any company with a points-based incentive program to consider this option for your employees. With the increase in the number of Gen Y and Gen X employees - who typically are more predisposed to giving as part of their generational makeup - this option will make your program more attractive, enhance your companies image and create a connection with not only your employees, but the local marketplace.
Give it a try - just imagine the good it will do!
