Looking Backward to Look Forward

Postitnotessmall As the new year is dawning it is somewhat traditional to look backward and reminisce.  Most of the time however, we focus on what went wrong - the should of's, could of's, and would of's.

Here's a suggestion.  Create an "accomplishment map" to highlight what was accomplished rather than what failed.  Take a few minutes with some smooth jazz and your drink of choice and map out what you've accomplished.

It is almost impossible to complete this task and not feel motivated.  Too often we focus on the few things that didn't work versus all the things that went right.  Putting the accomplishments down on paper makes them more concrete.  And it gives you something to refer to on those days when you're feeling a bit frustrated with your progress on that one project.

Happy New Year and here's to motivation!
